Celebrating GCSE Success at St Jamesâ
There were plenty of smiles across St James’ as our Year 11 pupils opened their GCSE results and celebrated the culmination of years of hard work, determination and resilience.
We are incredibly proud to share another great set of GCSE results, building on the successes of previous years, with pupils achieving strong outcomes across a wide range of subjects.
A Fantastic Year of Achievement
Our pupils have achieved some excellent results this year, with:
- Over three quarters of all qualifications were awarded at grade 4 or higher, placing us significantly above the national average at this benchmark pass level.
- More than a quarter of all grades awarded at grade 7 or above, equivalent to A and A* grades.
These results are a fantastic reflection of the commitment shown by our pupils throughout their GCSE journey.
Headteacher Anthony Ellul said:
“We are so proud of our pupils. They are a credit to our school, and we couldn’t be happier to see the smiles as they opened up their results today. Throughout their time with us, they have lived out our VERITAS values, and I can’t wait to see how this translates to a positive impact on the wider world.”
There were some particularly impressive performances across individual subjects.
- Maths and English departments continue to lead the school with consistently strong outcomes and are well supported by the wider core curriculum in Science and RE.
- In our wider curriculum the PE team continues to stand out, with excellent outcomes at both their GCSE and Vocational courses.
- Our Community Languages students also achieved fantastic results, with top grades being achieved in: Polish, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese and Portuguese.
Celebrating Our Pupils
Huge congratulations to the students who have all achieved a GCSE grade average of 8 or above:
Amelie Marks, Filip Apopei , Emilia Chmiel , Joseph McDonnell, Beryl Lam, Karolina Tomaszewska, Elirton Gjoni , Justin Ioan, Janice Ng, Sangala Okuku, Moses Urang, Tommy Cooke, Arianna Mok, Andreea Ursachi and Edmond Owusu. Further congratulations to Edmond who achieved highest Business Studies mark in the whole of the country!
These achievements represent just a small selection of the fantastic results achieved by our Year 11 pupils.
Head of Year 11, Jacques Vercuiel, said,:
"Our Year 11 pupils have shown tremendous perseverance and maturity throughout their GCSE journey. They embraced every opportunity to succeed, and these results are a fitting reward for their hard work. We are incredibly grateful to our staff and parents for the encouragement they have given, and we look forward to welcoming many of our pupils into the Sixth Form."
Looking Ahead to Sixth Form
For many of our pupils, results day marks the beginning of the next chapter of their St James’ journey, with a large number preparing to return to our Sixth Form in September.
Amelie Marks said:
“I’m really happy with my results and so proud of what I have achieved. All the hard work and revision has paid off, and it feels amazing to see the results today. I’m really grateful to the teachers for all their support and encouragement throughout the year.”
Ali Mohammed added:
“I’m so pleased with my results and couldn’t be happier with how everything has turned out!”
Kaycee Chan said:
“I am absolutely delighted with my GCSE results. I was really nervous coming in this morning, so seeing my grades was such a great feeling. I am really proud of myself and thankful to everyone at the school who helped me along the way.”
