Our Head Students

Leadership team

We are proud to announce our Sixth Form Leadership Team for the coming academic year. Following a competitive selection process, these pupils have been recognised for their commitment, leadership qualities and dedication to the school community. We are confident they will be excellent ambassadors for our Sixth Form and inspire those around them.

Congratulations to our Head Students, Brian O and Souleymane S, who will lead the team and represent the voices of our pupils throughout the year. We are also delighted to introduce our Deputy Head Students: Naomi B, Ingrid K, Ben N, and Jessica B.

Together, they will support the Head Students in leading initiatives, organising Sixth Form events, mentoring younger students and helping to strengthen our school community.

Souleymane Sylla - Head Student

I am incredibly honoured to have been appointed Head Boy at St James’ Catholic High School. Having benefited from the many opportunities the school has provided throughout my time here, I am excited to give back to a community that has helped shape me both academically and personally.

Through experiences such as mentoring younger pupils, participating in the Brilliant Club, contributing to the school’s social media team, and serving as a prefect, I have developed strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. As Head Boy, I hope to strengthen communication between pupils and staff, ensure that every pupil feels heard and supported, and inspire others to believe in their potential regardless of their starting point. My goal is to help create a positive and inclusive school environment where all pupils feel motivated to achieve their best and take pride in being part of the St James’ community.

Brian Oga-Ugwueze - Head Student

I am deeply honoured to be appointed Head Student at St James’ Catholic High School. I would be ready for whatever comes my way, embracing both the challenges and responsibilities that this role brings. Even before being given this position, I have spent a significant amount of time refining my own approach to staying ahead both academically and socially, building habits and discipline that I can now share with others.

My aim is to pass on these strategies to younger pupils, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, and direction in their own journeys. Through my experiences in mentoring, volunteering, and participating in musical performances, I have learned the value of stepping outside my comfort zone, which has helped me build key qualities that will support my vision for the future of pupils at St James’. While I understand this will not be easy, I am confident that with commitment and consistency, meaningful progress is possible for the whole school community.
