Year 13 Drama Practical Work: Bev- Dismal Angel
This was an opportunity for the students to share the fruits of their commitment and hard work to an expectant audience, ahead of their actual practical exam on Friday 17 March.
The production was in the theatrical style of docudrama, sometimes referred to as theatre of fact.. This involves the interweaving of pre-existing documentary material, such as newspaper articles, interviews, government reports, etc as source material for the script.
As a result, the students had to adapt their own presentation, adopting various characters and voices to reflect the events that actually took place.
Bev - Dismal Angel tells the story as it unfolded of Beverley Allitt, a nurse in Grantham, Lincolnshire who was convicted of murdering four children, attempting to murder three other children, and causing grievous bodily harm to a further six children - all of which were entrusted to her care.
The story tells of Beverley's troubled upbringing, how circumstances allowed her to secure a position of care in a local hospital and how she confused colleagues and the authorities whilst carrying out her terrible crimes.
Congratulations to all involved in this truly memorable production. Of course, a special mention to our incredible students of whom we are incredibly proud:
- Georgia Brenna
- Sean Hever
- Morgan Reece Garcia
- Chloe Norgate
Thanks to Mr Sellek for his tireless support in preparing the students for their exam and to Mr Robinson for his valued input an encouragement.
