St James' Hosting Year 5 Taster Days
We had the pleasure of hosting Blessed Dominic's Primary School pupils for a series of secondary taster lessons. The day was designed to provide primary school pupils with a glimpse into the engaging and diverse learning experiences offered at our school, in the hope of inspiring them to consider joining us for Year 7.
The taster sessions were delivered to showcase various subjects and activities, giving pupils a taste of what secondary school life at St. James' has to offer. The morning began with Year 5 pupils diving into a science lesson on electrical circuits. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on experiments, the pupils gained a practical understanding of the fundamental principles of electricity.
Following the science lesson, the pupils were treated to a music session where they had the opportunity to explore rhythm and percussion using drums. This engaging activity not only allowed them to unleash their creativity but also highlighted the importance of music and the arts in our school curriculum.
In the English lesson, they delved into the world of Shakespeare. Lastly, the Geography lesson on earthquakes provided the pupils with a fascinating insight into the forces of nature. Through maps, visuals, and discussions, the pupils learnt about the causes and impacts of earthquakes, enhancing their understanding of the world around them.
We are thrilled by the prospect of welcoming these bright and eager learners as our future students in Year 7 and we hope to see them in at our next open evening in September.
