Sixth Form
St James’ Sixth Form offers fantastic opportunities for our students to study and further their skills with excellent and innovative teaching, thereby enabling them to gain the qualifications and experiences for them to access university, further education and the careers of their choice. We offer Sixth Form places to our successful Year 11 students, as well as recommended external students.
We offer a range of academic and vocational courses at levels 2 and 3 alongside a tutorial programme and ethos that offers guidance for students in study skills, vocational and careers advice, financial management and higher education. We have a bespoke careers/pathways programme which includes individual and group information and guidance, support with personal statements, interview practice and visits to universities and workplaces.
There are many leadership opportunities at St James' Sixth Form – we have a team of St James’ Ambassadors supporting whole school events and community work and many Student Prefects working alongside teachers in Key Stages 3 and 4 classes, working as technicians, mentors - leading by example in our school and wider community. Our Student Vision team chair their own council meetings and arrange social and fund raising events for the sixth form on a regular basis.
Our students are actively encouraged to participate in and contribute to all aspects of school life. All of our sixth formers opt for a weekly enrichment activity which further enhances their all-round education thereby equipping them for their future pathways. Many of our students choose to take part in the vast range of extra-curricular activities that are on offer.
We believe in empowering our students to develop and grow in a structured, nurturing, environment ensuring that they achieve their academic potential and flourish as responsible young adults; who are ready to take their next steps in education or the world of work and to make a positive contribution to our community.
